Link's Decision 2: Chronos the Tears of Fate

Basic setup is that one province in the neighboring country needs Link's help. Ganon has invaded a magic bunker, and only a hero would be able to collect the six tears to enter. Link is dumped there with almost nothing, knowing nothing of this province or where to find these tears. Link isn't left without help, as you'll immediately see. There will be no explanation of who Chronos was, how it's tied to fate, why they would only have six tears, or why red hands would be a recurring theme.

Explore the overworld in three different time periods, centuries apart. Choose between four character classes: knight, wizard, monk, and thief, each with their own abilities and advantages. Minimum of 19 dungeons to beat the game, but there are at least 10 additional optional dungeons per playthrough. Find the golden statue in a completely unnecessary side quest that you won't even know whether you've taken up. This was entirely made in zquest v2.10, but all testing was done using ZC v2.53. There's a walkthrough that includes has maps of every area of the game, and even a set of overworld maps that show the expanding area associated with each level you beat.

I highly recommend reading the rules. It includes things like how many items there are to get in each type of dungeon, whether your own bombs hurt you, and whether burnable bushes are marked. If you are wondering why there is a new v2.10 quest in 2022, the majority of the work was done using 2.10, while 2.50 was still being developed in beta, and the quest was lost for more than a decade. I spent a few months putting the last dungeon together, finishing the overworld and caves, polishing it up, and making a walkthrough.

Music Video - They Might Be Giants - Istanbul (not Constantinople) - Link's Decision 2 (2023) - An AMV-style music video about the sequel zelda classic quest. The song's lyrics just match the story of the town side quest so well. This is not a trailer. (2m37s)

v0.9.1 - 2022-02-05 - Initial Release. Quest is 100% complete and works.
v0.9.2 - 2022-02-05 - One tile got swapped and it affected the opening screen, which should be all black.
v0.9.3 - 2022-02-18 - Problem with a pushblock in optional dungeon O-4, problem with a cave dumping you on the wrong side of the river, problems with some caves being empty or not being accessible, reworded wizard's text (the double-Z misspelling might make sense now), moved a HCP from overworld to a new cave.
v0.9.4 - 2022-02-19 - Fixed pushblock issues in LVL 7 past and secret 3.
v0.9.5 - 2022-03-08 - Pushblock on screen past-53. caves on screens future-37, future-74, past-32, past-38 (one heart container piece, one shop, two secret moneys). LVL 5-3 map. Class 2-3 compass. Plundered Grave keys (heart container piece) & Bombs (heart container piece). Glitch where somebody could permanently lock out the non-dungeon 7th magic container. Graphical fix at same location.
v0.9.6 - 2022-03-18 - LVL S3, room in top right has a solution. Issues with F6 at switches in LVL5 and LVL7 are fixed, should be all of them. Room in castle 2nd floor is now accessible (nothing's there still). Fixed what the guys in the caves outside LVL7 say about the door. Added text in LVL7 simply identifying when the whistle warp is unlocked.
v1.0.0 - 2022-04-23 - There is a lot here. The first few are significant additions.
Added Secret 5 - Don't worry about it if you haven't beaten the other four secret dungeons.
Upgraded the HCP Cave - The two portions east and west of the start behind the heavy blocks are completely redone. Instead of side view and simple blocks, these three heart container pieces are now in mazes modeled after areas of the HCP cave in Link's Decision 1.
Upgraded Coin Cave - Prize money increased to a little more than 1500 rupees. Added red leevers for more rupee-dropping enemies. Plus now there's a warp zone shortcut to the cave.
Added fairy fountains at the end room of every dungeon. With the warp, you can now get back to the start with full health without F6.
Secret 3 - No-Class players can now get through the class-specific area with 300 rupees.
  Changed clocks to temporary.
Secret 1 - Some screens were made a little more difficult. Now there is no way to miss getting the boss key at the end.
Secret 3 - Changed a few room orders and fixed a couple triggers, so that going back a screen to restart a block puzzle doesn't get you shuttered. No more having to redo the puzzle in the previous room.
  BUGFIXES:
There's a way to exit the arena now, so if you die or F6, you can leave as originally intended.
Bombable cave in the future town is no longer an error tile, leads to a cave of some significance.
LVL Class 3-2, pushblock didn't open a door.
Added locked door to class dungeon 1-4, one was missing and you could exit the level with a spare key which was unintended.
Fixed help cave's directions to level 4, correct time period, and more clearly worded.
Adjusted the cymbals volume in the zelda 1 underworld song in level 1-1 present.
Secret 2 - This dungeon had two bad screen warps, which are now fixed. The odd warp destinations are fixed too.
Secret 3 - Fixed two broken block puzzle rooms, and fixed the class specific puzzles for the wizard and the monk. Made it impossible to leave the dungeon with an extra key.
Whistle warp zone is more clear. There are even a few words.
Secret 1 music was incorrect, replaced with correct song. The songs are not supposed to repeat.
Replaced one of the jungle songs because of playback errors, but with a different midi of the same song.
Graphical glitches fixed in various places. Several spelling errors (WIZZARD is unchanged).
Walkthrough Additions - Music List (all 95 uploaded songs sorted by location), Shop List (including best place to buy each item), added some more few dungeon text directions (just level 3 and class 3-x-past are remaining).
v1.1 - 2022-05-11 - Fixed Level 5 statues, switch had a problem sometimes.
Fixed minor bugs, music errors exiting certain caves, screen start position, enemy bugs.
Added a way to get Amulet 2 to make yourself visible during the Ganon fight, look for help.
Added NPC Emily to Joel Mike and Jonah.
Hard Mode added. This is a second .qst file, with more enemies and less favorable rules for fire, bombs, and clocks. Link's Decision 1 (2007) had the same two .qst file arrangement.
Walkthrough is 99% complete. Solution for Secret 4 (lost woods) will be posted eventually, but not as part of 100%. v1.2 - 2022-05-28 - Fixed Secret 4 instructions, fixed secret 4 whistle warps, statues, switch had a problem sometimes.
Changed the advice for Ganon in the Help Cave to include something about your invisibility, but no such advice in hard mode.
Fixed one cave that played the wrong song when exiting.
v1.3 - 2022-07-12 - Fixed hookshot paths in snow.
Removed a bad warp from a cave in future.
Fixed typo in the castle NPC.
v1.4 - 2022-10-22 - Fixed minor graphical glitches including secret 3 entrance.
Fixed tiles for fence posts in the river for the town.
Changed the area halfway point to jars.
  Fixed door in HCP Cave.
  Increased Coin Cave prizes.
Fixed HCP Cave Block Maze warp, inconsequential.
Fixed glitch in the room after Ganon.
Fixed uncommon glitch in Secret 5 boss.
Hard mode the sword beam does half damage.
Added one song to make 100, just the Zelda 1 Level 9 song and it's only the Ganon fight screen.
Walkthrough is 100% complete. There's also a Let's Play, plus video of the thief getting the mirror shield extremely early, 90m into the quest.
v1.5 - 2023-09-10 - Made it more clear that secret 4 shortcut is required.
Added brief reference to the paradox after you beat Ganon.
